Speaker Biographies

Sonalee Rashatwar (she/they), M.S.W., L.S.W., M.Ed. is a community organizer and social worker based out of South Jersey, dedicated to using social justice to create cutting-edge workshops focused on marginalized populations within mainstream sexuality discourse. She is paid for her labor as a sexual assault counselor, ensuring trauma-informed care with clinical specialties in sexual trauma, racial justice, body positivity, and culturally responsible modalities. Sonalee received her Master of Social Work and Master of Education in Human Sexuality from Widener University in 2016.

 

 

Shadeen Francis, MFT, is a marriage and family therapist, professor, and author specializing in sex therapy and social justice. She is requested internationally to speak on topics such as sexual self-esteem and inclusivity in medical care, and holds ongoing roles teaching, leading, and collaborating with non-profit organizations, medical schools, homeless shelters, and corporate boards. Shadeen’s signature combination of warmth, humour, and compassion allows people of all backgrounds to improve their relationships and live the lives they desire. P.span>

Darla Cathcart, DPT, WCS, CLT, is a board certified Women’s Health Clinical Specialist in physical therapy. She has over ten years experience in working with women and men with pelvic health disorders, including sexual, bladder, and bowel problems. Darla is currently pursuing a PhD in the area of pelvic pain conditions and teaches in the entry-level physical therapy program at University of Central Arkansas.

 

 

 

Dr. Eve Espey is an obstetrician-gynecologist and family planning specialist.  She serves as Chair of the Department of OB-GYN at the University of New Mexico, President of the Society of Family Planning and is committed to contraceptive access and social justice.

 

 

 

 

Signey Olson, NP is a Nurse Practitioner and Nurse-Midwife with Columbia Fertility Associates in Washington, DC. While she sees a wide scope of patients, her focus is on providing inclusive GYN and fertility care for the LGBTQ+ community. Much of her clinical work focuses on transgender and gender non-conforming individuals, as well as providing trauma-informed care.

 

 

 

Mickey Valentine is a disabled, queer, working class, nonbinary, kinky Black femme from New York City, currently living in the Greater Boston Area. They love to educate. They are  immensely passionate about disability, reproductive, racial justice as well as integrating intersections into topics like polyamory or sexual education reform.

 

 

 

 

Kaity Molé, RN is a queer-identified registered nurse working at Planned Parenthood and at a private clinic in late term abortion. She’s done clinical abortion work for the past 3 years and is on the board of directors for Nursing Students for Sexual and Reproductive Health, an abortion advocacy organization, where’s she’s helped train hundreds of healthcare providers on abortion. She additionally works in anti-violence work as a sexual assault nurse examiner and is a second year student in nurse-midwifery

 

 

Carey Roth Bayer,  Ed. D., M.Ed., BSN, RN, CSE is an associate professor in the departments of Community Health and Preventive Medicine as well as Medical Education at Morehouse School of Medicine. She also serves as the Director of the Center of Excellence for Sexual Health in the Satcher Health Leadership Institute. Dr. Roth Bayer teaches medical students, residents, post-doctoral fellows, public health students, and community students in the areas of human sexuality throughout the lifespan, leadership, parent-child communication around sexual health, curriculum development, teaching methods, and community health. Her scholarship focuses on training health professionals to address human sexuality with patients across the lifespan.
